Five employees injured in seismic event at Blyvooruitzicht Gold Mine

DRDGOLD Limited regrets to announce that five employees have been injured following a seismic event underground at the No 5 Shaft of the company’s 74%-owned Blyvooruitzicht Mine near Carletonville.

Johannesburg, South Africa. 20 September 2011. DRDGOLD Limited (DRDGOLD; JSE: DRD, NASDAQ: DROOY) regrets to announce that five employees have been injured following a seismic event underground at the No 5 Shaft of the company’s 74%-owned Blyvooruitzicht Mine near Carletonville.

The seismic event, of magnitude 3.4, occurred at approximately 12:06 today (Tuesday, 20 September 2011), some 2 700 metres below surface.

The injured employees have been brought to surface and are being transferred to hospital where their conditions will be assessed.
