Blyvooruitzicht mine (Blyvoor), which incorporates Doornfontein mine, has underground and surface operations and is situated near Carletonville some 70km south-west of Johannesburg
East Rand Proprietary Mines (ERPM), is an underground mining operation which was established in 1893 on the Witwatersrand Basin, 25km to the east of Johannesburg.
Crown Gold Recoveries (Crown) recovers and treats old slime and sand dumps at three plants on the Central Rand goldfield to the south and east of Johannesburg’s city centre. In the process substantial tracts of land are made available for redevelopment.
Ergo, the joint venture with Mintails, has been established to process gold-bearing slime and sand dumps to the east of Johannesburg. The project is being managed by Crown surface operations.
The West Rand gold and uranium joint venture with Mintails and Mineral and Mining Reclamation Services (MMRS) has been established to explore the potential for surface and underground exploitation of several old mines to the west of Johannesburg. DRDGOLD SA has a 45% interest.
